UI/UX Product Designer

Location: Kansas City, MO
Job Type: Long-Term Contract

Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking a talented and creative UI/UX Product Designer for a long-term contract opportunity with our client in Kansas City, MO. This role is ideal for a design professional who is passionate about creating intuitive, engaging, and user-centered digital experiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to design innovative products that align with user needs, business objectives, and established design standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, behaviors, challenges, and workflows through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other research methods.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to effectively communicate design concepts and solutions.
  • Design intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible user interfaces that provide seamless experiences across desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, business analysts, quality assurance teams, and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations that balance user needs, technical feasibility, and business goals.
  • Plan and facilitate usability testing sessions to validate design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze user feedback and testing results to refine and enhance product designs.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems, style guides, and UI component libraries to ensure consistency across products.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and UX/UI best practices to continuously improve design processes and user experiences.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, User Experience Design, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant professional experience; OR
  • Associate degree with 6+ years of relevant professional experience; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, preferably supporting technology products or digital platforms.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, design thinking methodologies, and UX best practices.
  • Excellent visual design skills with strong attention to detail, typography, layout, and interaction design.
  • Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, and user flows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering effective user experiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in an Agile development environment and take ownership of assigned work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum-based technology teams.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise design systems and component libraries.
