Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Compensation Range: $55-59

Location:   LaPorte, IN; Onsite – School Setting

Position Summary
The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school district. Key Duties
  1. Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
  2. Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  3. Ensure that all activities conform to district and cooperative guidelines.
  4. Communicate effectively with all members of the school district, cooperative, and community.
  5. Appropriately operate all equipment as required.
  6. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  7. Support the philosophy and vision of the cooperative and school district.
Requirements
Education
    • Master’s degree from an accredited college/university
Licenses & Certifications
    • Required: Current IN SLP License
    • Required: Current IN Educator Certification or ability to obtain
    • CFY's welcome
Skills
  1. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
  2. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
  3. Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services.
  4. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process.
  5. Participate in the development of student IEP's.
  6. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.
  7. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.
  8. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
  9. Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on students' IEPs.
  10. Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback
