Psychiatrist - Federal Outpatient Services | Louisville, KY
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is hiring a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for a contract position at a federal outpatient behavioral health facility in Louisville, Kentucky. This role provides comprehensive psychiatric care to an adult patient population, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Position Overview
This position serves a diverse patient population at a federal healthcare facility, delivering outpatient psychiatric services including individual and group therapy, psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, and pharmacological management. The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care providers to ensure integrated, patient-centered behavioral health care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including diagnostic assessments, mental status examinations, and biopsychosocial histories
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications with ongoing monitoring for efficacy, side effects, and drug interactions
- Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated
- Perform crisis intervention and risk assessments for patients presenting with acute psychiatric emergencies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians
- Document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record system in compliance with federal documentation standards
- Participate in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical case conferences
- Provide consultation-liaison services to medical and surgical teams as needed
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and facility-specific policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency program
- Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Kentucky (or eligibility for Kentucky licensure)
- Current DEA registration
- Minimum 3 years of post-residency clinical psychiatry experience
- BLS certification (current)
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status (federal facility requirement)
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in addiction psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, or consultation-liaison psychiatry
- Experience in federal healthcare settings (VA, DoD, IHS, or similar)
- Experience with Telemental Health and virtual psychiatric care delivery
- Familiarity with CPRS, VistA, or other federal EHR platforms
- Experience with evidence-based psychotherapy models (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)
- Prior experience with veteran or military-connected populations
Compensation and Benefits
- Independent Contractor: $143 - $173 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
