CAD Designer

The CAD Designer develops detailed 2D drawings and 3D models to support product design from concept through production. This role partners with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards while supporting innovation, continuous improvement, and accurate documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
• Design and develop products from concept through production release
• Create SolidWorks models using sketches, concepts, and customer inputs with minimal supervision
• Generate and evaluate multiple design concepts, considering manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and performance
• Produce and review complete manufacturing documentation (detail and assembly drawings, weldments, BOMs, wire harnesses, etc.)
• Develop installation instructions and ensure drawing package accuracy
• Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and proper file management (PDM)
• Implement engineering changes and update drawings to reflect improvements
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturable designs
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and instructions
• Support prototype builds, testing, and repeatable production in manufacturing
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and strong understanding of mechanical design and drafting standards
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Technical Skills:

• 2D/3D modeling and CAD design
• Engineering drawing standards (GD&T a plus)
• BOM creation and document control
• Microsoft Office and product lifecycle documentation

Preferred Experience:

• Background in OEM, industrial equipment, or manufacturing environments
• Experience with sheet metal, weldments, and mechanical assemblies
• Familiarity with engineering change processes
