Job Description

POSITION -Assistant Principal/Special Education Instructional Coach

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Instructional Leadership Team in developing and sustaining the school's mission, vision, and core values while ensuring the health and safety of all students and staff.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and help coordinate school events including parent meetings, open houses, conferences, and enrichment activities.
  • Provide coaching, professional development, classroom observations, and instructional feedback to staff based on school goals and performance data.
  • Assist the Instructional Leadership Team in collecting, analyzing, and using student data to drive instructional decisions and achieve measurable academic growth goals.

SPECIAL EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL COACH RESPONSIBILITIES

The Special Education Instructional Coach provides leadership, professional learning, and embedded coaching to support special education and their general education co-teachers in implementing best practices for scholars with disabilities. The role also focuses on enhancing specially designed instruction (SDI), improving the use and proficiency of co-teaching models, and focuses on fostering a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment.

  • Provide one-on-one and small group coaching to special and general education co-teachers, including modeling lessons, facilitating co-planning, and supporting effective co-teaching practices.
  • Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies, interventions, accommodations, and modifications while analyzing student data to monitor progress and close achievement gaps.
  • Assist teams in establishing IEP goal progress monitoring systems and data collection tools within inclusive co-taught classrooms.
  • Design and deliver professional development on evidence-based special education practices and collaborate with leadership, intervention teams, and support service professionals to uphold program goals and meet student needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Education required.
  • NYS Teaching Certification in Elementary and Special Education required.
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Principal or Dean at the Elementary School Level is required.
  • 6+ years of Lead Teaching experiences required including as a Special Education teacher.
